More than three-quarters of a million California seniors, including more than 7,700 older Marin residents, are among the nation’s hidden poor, according to a new study by the UCLA Center for Health Policy Research.
These older adults lack the financial resources to meet their basic living expenses for housing, food, transportation and health care, but they also have incomes above the federal poverty line, which makes them ineligible for many government assistance programs.
