Darrick Hamilton is an Assistant Professor at Milano The New School for Management and Urban Policy, an affiliated faculty member in the Department of Economics at The New School for Social Research, an affiliate scholar at the Center for American Progress, and a co-Associate Director of the American Economic Association Summer Research and Minority Scholarship Program. His work focuses on the causes and consequences of racial and ethnic inequality in economic and health outcomes. He has published extensively on disparities in wealth, homeownership, and labor market outcomes. Dr. Hamilton's research agenda has been supported by grants from the Ford Foundation, National Institute of Health, National Science Foundation and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.

He earned a Ph.D. from the Department of Economics at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. While in graduate school he received the department's Most Outstanding Teaching Assistant Award, a Social Science Research Council's International Predissertation Fellowship, and upon graduation received the National Economic Association's 2001 Rhonda M. Williams Dissertation Award.
