Why We Can't Wait Summit

The Why We Can’t Wait summit took place from December 3rd through December 5th, 2012 in Miami Beach, FL, and brought together scholars, practitioners, advocates, and media pundits of color from across the nation to connect, reflect, and share new ways to inspire and mobilize support for closing the racial wealth gap.

At the summit, these and other questions were addressed: 

• What role should homeownership play as a primary vehicle for rebuilding wealth in communities of color?
• What does brain science and implicit bias tell us about how communities of color are perceived?
• How can media help frame the public dialogue and lend support to the development of policies that narrow racial wealth disparities?
• What models and practices can be implemented today to help communities of color rebuild wealth?
