Mariko Chang is the author of a forthcoming book on the gender wealth gap, Shortchanged: Why Women Have Less Wealth and What Can Be Done about It, to be published by Oxford University Press in 2010, as well as the author of the Insight Center's paper "Lifting as We Climb: Women of Color, Wealth, and America's Future." She has a PhD in Sociology from Stanford University and was an Associate Professor of Sociology at Harvard University from 1998 to 2007 where she published work on the use of social networks for gathering financial information and began her work on the gender wealth gap. In addition to her book on the gender wealth gap, she is creating a website devoted to providing easily-accessible data and fact sheets on wealth inequality, including detailed information on assets and debts (by gender, race, and other important characteristics).
